Athleta’s recycled nylon used in new women’s line
A team of female designers for Gap’s sportswear line, Athleta, has collaborated with nine-time Olympic medalist Allyson Felix, on a sportswear line developed for women and girls. The women’s line features SuperSonic recycled nylon in most pieces.
SuperSonic is spun from recycled nylon made in a Fair Trade certified factory, according to the company, made from the scraps generated by their garment cutting.
Pieces in the limited edition line, according to senior director Casey Schumacher, take into consideration specific fit, placement of logos and bib, stitching and constructions that “didn’t ride up” on the track and field star, while keeping the pieces lightweight.
