Digital Inspiramais takes place this week

Latin America material design exhibition, Inspiramais, starts today, August 25th, and will run through August 27th. The event will present hundreds of innovations in sustainability, design and technology, international speakers and virtual business rounds with more than ten countries.
The digital version is aiming not to replicate the physical version, organisers said, but rather to “promote an exclusive experience, with the possibility of discovering releases and products, participating in the entire program and conducting direct business with companies in the virtual environment”.
While the event is applicable to a wide range of industries, some talks particularly relevant to sports and performance textiles include a talk from Montserrat Ciges called “Materiom Network and Bets on Biomaterials”, a talk from BASF’s Rudnei Assis called “PU Slipper: Comfort, Design and Innovation” and a talk on the sustainability of Brazilian cotton from Márcio Portocarrero, executive director of the Abrapa union of cotton growers.
The digitisation of Inspiramais may have been inevitable, according to Walter Rodrigues, who is responsible for the event’s design centre. “The pandemic just accelerated the process. Digital models are fascinating. If in the physical model, we talk to seven thousand professionals, now we have the chance to expand this, and the platform has all the attributes for this promotion.”
Content from the three-day event will be accessible for 30 days.
