Cellulosic fibres are a window to “a magic world”
WSA magazine’s Dialogue series of one-to-one interviews with leading industry figures continues in the September-October issue with a conversation with Dr Marina Crnoja-Cosic.
Viscose fibre producer Kelheim fibres announced Dr Crnoja-Cosic as its new head of new business development in August. She previously worked at Lenzing and, in 2015, led that company’s move into footwear with its Tencel fibre.
In the course of our conversation, which you can read in full here, Marina Crnoja-Cosic said she likes manmade cellulosic fibres, particularly viscose fibres, because they can be tailor-made to a customer’s specific needs. In contrast to naturally grown fibres, she said, manufacturers can control the fibre’s length, width and cross-section and maintain a high fibre quality.
She explained that viscose fibres offer a range of possibilities for adding functionalities to the fibre without any compromise on sustainability. “This opens the window to a magic world of possibilities for different applications,” she concluded.
