Lenzing rolls out TextileGenesis for full traceability

16/11/2020

Lenzing, the Austrian group behind Tencel (a wood-based, cellulosic fibre), has begun introducing its blockchain-based, TextileGenesis-enabled traceability platform to its international supply partners during a phased rollout of the technology.

Supply partners based in India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Sri Lanka will complete the onboarding process in Q4 of 2020, while an estimated 300-plus supply chain partners in China and Turkey will also join the platform during Q1 of 2021. Lenzing estimates that most eligible supply chain partners will have been onboarded by Q2 of 2021, enabling the company to offer “full supply chain traceability”.

The global launch follows a 12-month pilot programme, which involved H&M, ArmedAngels, Mara Hoffman, Chicks and suppliers from 10 countries in 3 regions all testing the platform.

In addition to Lenzing’s supply chain partners across Asia, Europe and the Americas, the platform is accessible by all brands using the group’s Tencel and EcoVero branded fibres.

A key aspect of the platform is integration with Lenzing’s E-Branding fabric certification system, which enables brands and retailers to view the results of forensic, physical verification of fabric samples via digitally signed certificates.
