Polyester gets the cool treatment from Unifi
Unifi, which makes recycled and synthetic yarns, said it has answered consumers’ call for cool-touch in polyester. The new technology, called ChillSense, is described as allowing fabrics to transfer heat from the body to the fabric more quickly.
The technology is in the yarn structure, according to the company, while the performance depends upon the fabric’s construction. Fabrics made with ChillSense have “an instantaneous sensation of coolness to the touch, because they “achieve higher thermal effusivity values – used to quantify the sensation of coolness – than standard market polyester”.
It’s available in Profiber, Repreve and Repreve Our Ocean.
