US used clothing group to be Renewcell’s biggest supplier
Sweden-based textiles specialist Renewcell has signed a multi-year agreement with used clothing wholesaler Bank & Vogue to supply 30,000 tonnes of pre and post-consumer waste per year to be recycled at its new facility in Sundsvall.

Renewcell’s patented technology recycles the cotton into Circulose, a new virgin grade raw material.

The new contract means Bank & Vogue will be Renewcell’s largest supplier.

Steven Bethell, founder of US-based Bank & Vogue and Beyond Retro, said: “We have been working in used clothing for over two decades, and our long-standing relationships with charitable organisations across North America  gives us the opportunity to really change the fashion industry by offering used clothing as a sustainable and scalable alternative to new production.

“Renewcell’s work is an incredible example of Swedish innovation, and their passion for sustainability has challenged us to develop new solutions to the crisis of stuff.”

Renewcell’s new plant, which will be built at the site of former paper mill in Sundsvall, Sweden, will have the capacity to recycle hundreds of millions of garments every year.

The company has supplied its material to Levi’s and H&M for collections this year.
