Portuguese producer to use Sorona for staple yarns
Portuguese yarn producer Tearfil will develop staple yarns for the apparel industry using Sorona fibres, following a new agreement with DuPont Sorona.
Tearfil chief executive, Maria de Belém Machado, said at the time of the announcement that the company believes collaboration to be the key ingredient in creating high-quality products. “Our magic is only possible thatnks to our trusted fibre and technology partners,” she said.
Sorona uses ingredients that are up to 37% plant-based and offers performance attributes such as softness, stretch, shape-recovery, flexibility, ease-of-care and stain-resistance without the need for topical treatments.
The process for making the fibre uses 30% less energy than the process for making nylon 6, DuPont Sorona has said. It also releases 63% fewer greenhouse gas emissions.
