Two technical experts join Spinnova
Finnish bio-yarn producer Spinnova has announced Professor Markku Kataja as its new chief scientific officer. The company said it hoped the professor would help it strengthen its research and product development team and its work with universities and research institutes.
Professor Kataja will continue working in the department of physics at the university of Jyväskylä, where he leads the Complex Materials Research Group. His work so far has included research into micro fibrillated cellulose (MFC), Spinnova's feedstock.
A few weeks earlier, Spinnova also recruited Dr Nagalakshmaiah Malladi as its new senior product development specialist for MFC. Dr Malladi worked previously for pulp and paper company Sappi. He studied material chemistry at the University of Grenoble Alpes in France.
