Report highlights revival of cotton-textile supply chain
Cotton industry information resource Cotlook has published its summary of the global market for the month of December 2020.
It said Chinese mills and traders (including state-owned enterprises) were active buyers throughout the month because of the disparity between local prices and more competitive offers from outside China.
Cotlook added that mills had been keeping inventories to a minimum owing to apprehension about future demand, but that replenishment was under way.
It said: “Several major textile and garment manufacturing countries published robust export data and, overall, the impression remained of a revival of the cotton-textile supply chain.”
The report also said there were lower production forecasts in India and the US.
