Charity auction for dresses that use Spinnova bio-fibre

Finnish designer Vuokko Nurmesniemi has used a blend of lyocell and Spinnova’s bio-yarn to create two special-edition versions of a dress.

These garments, based on one of her most famous designs, the Myllynkivi (millstone) dress, have been made by Saima, a new brand that makes all of its clothes in its own factory in Helsinki. It has applied a print design called Pyörre (vortex), the work of textile print house Printscorpio.

An online auction of the dresses will take place on January 27, with the money raised going to the Baltic Sea Action Group, a charity organisation that works to protect the Baltic Sea and the climate.

Commenting on the project, Spinnova’s chief commercial officer, Lotta Kopra, said: “We are honoured to be part of this tribute to Vuokko, for the Baltic Sea that we all love. Vuokko’s clothing stands the test of time in both design and quality, and never ages with trends. This is the kind of fashion we want to promote.”
