Investor aims to help French brand expand globally
Private equity firm L Catterton has acquired a controlling interest in French outdoor brand JOTT.
Founded in Marseille in 2010, JOTT, whose name comes from the phrase ‘Just Over The Top’, is now best known for its light down jackets.
Its founders were cousins Nicolas and Mathieu Gourdikian, who set themselves the task of creating the “best light down jacket ever designed”. The Gourdikian family will continue to hold “a significant equity interest in the business”, L Catterton said.
It wasted no time in appointing a new chief executive, though, putting Didier Lalance into the role. Mr Lalance has worked in the past at ASICS, Kering and Lacoste.
He said on taking up the new position that L Catterton’s ambition was to help JOTT expand globally.
