Eurofins wins approval for organic cotton testing

Testing and research organisation Eurofins has said received approval from the International Standards Organisation for its proficiency in testing organic cotton.

For cotton to be classified as organic, Eurofins said on making the announcement, it is essential to verify the use of fibres that have not been genetically modified and the absence of synthetic pesticides and hazardous chemicals in the farming practice.

It said its laboratory in Alicante is able to test cotton samples for the presence of more than 200 pesticides and 250 hazardous chemicals.
