Jack Wolfskin and Polartec continue partnership
Outdoor brand Jack Wolfskin will include a new version of its Gecko fleece sweater in its winter 2021-2022 collection. The new version will be made from a fully recycled Polartec fleece material.
The brand said on making the announcement that this project represented the continuation of a partnership with Polartec that began in 1988. This year, Polartec is marking the thirtieth anniversary of its launch as a standalone brand, but its fleece fabrics were introduced to the market before that by original parent company Malden Mills.
Soon after it made its first Polartec garments, Jack Wolfskin became the biggest user of the products in Germany. It began using fabrics containing recycled content from the performance textile developer in 1999 and has said these soon became staple components of Jack Wolfskin collections.
Later, the companies worked together to develop a three-layer fabric made from recycled fibres. This features Polartec’s Windbloc fabric in the outer and inner layers and Jack Wolfskin’s proprietary Texapore Ecosphere membrane, entirely made from recycled material, in between.
