Rewards for cotton growers who adopt sustainable practice
Cotton Australia and specialist insurance company Achmea Australia have announced a new alliance that aims to recognise cotton growers’ contribution to a sustainable future for the Australian cotton industry.
Farmers who earn certification under Cotton Australia’s best management practices programme (myBMP) will receive discounts on insurance packages from Achmea.
According to Cotton Australia, the myBMP programme helps farmers develop safer workplaces and healthier natural environments. The programme will help them reduce input costs, keep pesticide use to a minimum and maximise water efficiency.
Cotton Australia chief executive, Adam Kay, said on launching the initiative that certification in the programme would give growers “confidence that they are operating at the highest level and contributing to a more sustainable and resilient Australian cotton industry”.
