Brazil signs cotton contract with China
The Brazilian association of cotton producers (ABRAPA) recently signed a memorandum of cooperation with China’s own cotton sector in Beijing.
Brazil’s ambassador to China, Paulo Estivallet de Mesquita, was in attendance at the signing ceremony, where he held talks with high-level representatives from the all-China federation of supply and marketing cooperatives, among others.
The two sides achieved cooperation in the areas of international cotton trade and promotion, plus information exchange and training, local media said.
China reportedly imported nearly 30% of its cotton from Brazil in 2020, up from less than 6% in 2017.
