Founder of fitness apparel brand Gymshark, Ben Francis, is to resume the position of chief executive in August. Existing chief executive, Steve Hewitt, will remain with the company, acting as its executive president.

Mr Francis was 19 when he founded Gymshark, specialising at first in nutritional supplements before moving into gymwear. He appointed Steve Hewitt as chief executive four years ago.

He said on making the announcement that his aim in making the change was to drive growth in the US and Asia.

In August 2020, Gymshark was valued at £1 billion. Ben Francis still owns 70% of the Birmingham-based company.
