First-half growth for ASICS
Sports brand ASICS has reported revenues of around $1.9 billion for the first six months of 2021, an increase of 42.6% compared to the same period last year.
It said it continued to face “a challenging situation” because of covid-19, but celebrated a significant increase in revenue because of strong sales in its running category, particularly in Europe, North America and China.
The category ASICS calls performance running contributed almost 52% of total revenues in the six-month period. Core performance sports was the next biggest category, with 11.2% of the total, followed by the group’s Onitsuka Tiger brand, which contributed 10%. Categories it calls sports style and apparel and equipment accounted for the rest.
