Fibres and textiles contribute strongly to Toray results

The fibre and textile segment of Toray’s business contributed revenues of more than $3.6 million in the first half of the group’s current business year, the six months ending September 30.

This figure represents an increase year on year of 21.6% and was the second-largest contributor, after performance chemicals, to overall group revenues for the period of more than $9.6 million.

Toray said that the global economy had recovered significantly during the period under review, with continued economic recovery in China, and the easing of restrictions elsewhere given the progress in vaccination.

It said it had seen an increase in demand for its fibres and textiles in Japan and in overseas markets. Some applications continued to be affected by covid-19, it added, but sports and outdoor applications performed strongly.
