Icelandic brand celebrates ten years of NeoShell products

Fabric developer Polartec has marked the tenth anniversary of the commercial launch of its NeoShell breathable waterproof fabric, giving special recognition to one of its long-standing partners, outdoor brand 66°North.

Icelandic brand 66°North was one of the partners that tested NeoShell in the field before launching its first collection made from the fabric in the autumn of 2011. That means that this is the tenth anniversary of a garment from that first NeoShell range that 66°North now describes as an iconic component of its range iconic 66°North product, the Snæfell jacket.

“Testing NeoShell in Iceland gave us an insight into what kind of jacket we could develop,” chief executive of 66°North, Helgi Rúnar Óskarsson, has said. “The result was a jacket that, to this day, is still our best-selling shell jacket.” He added that the brand had developed further NeoShell products over the years, explaining that wind- and waterproofness, hand in hand with “fantastic breathability” were the characteristics that made the fabric appealing.
