The Björn Borg sportswear and intimate apparel brand is to work with cleantech company We aRe Spin Dye (WRSD) to reduce the environmental impact of the dyeing processes for the textiles it uses.

WRSD’s aim is to establish a sustainable and transparent standard for dyeing synthetic textiles. Its chief executive, Andreas Andrén, said he thought the Björn Borg range of products was well suited to its technology offering.

For her part, Björn Borg’s product and sustainability manager, Mija Niderborn, said that 98% of the brand’s emissions come from production and that “a significant part” of the total comes from the dyeing process. “With WRSD’s process, we will drastically reduce water and chemical use, waste, energy consumption and CO2 emissions,” she said.
