Outdoor fabric collection uses Tencel
Fibre developer Lenzing unveiled a new collection of fabrics for outdoor garments at Performance Days in Munich on April 27.
It developed the collection, Tree Climate, in partnership with the founder of textile resource and garment production service Concept III, David Parkes, and with the founder of Performance Days, Marco Weichert.
The collection features Tencel fabrics for baselayer, midlayer and outer layer fabrics. Lenzing said the collection will allow brands to create synthetic-free layering solutions for different weather conditions.
It said the materials had good environmental credentials, high levels of wind- and water-resistance, breathability and thermal regulation.
“Performance apparel defines itself through innovative and practical textiles,” David Parkes said at the launch, “and the consumer has recognised this for several decades. I have been inspired by the sustainability of this generation of Tencel fibres, their attractive aesthetics and impressive thermal and comfort characteristics.”
