Brussels-based body the European Apparel and Textile Organisation (Euratex) has launched the EU-Ukraine Textile Initiative (EUTI) to provide a contact point for Ukrainian textile and apparel companies seeking supplies or other forms of peer-led assistance from counterparts in the European Union (EU).

Spearheaded by Euratex in tandem with Ukrainian association of textile and leather industry enterprises Ukrlegprom, the project has been designed to provide a mutual support function. It is being coordinated from the Belgian capital by Ukrainian textile industry veteran Olena Garkusha, reachable via email at eu-ukraine@euratex.eu.

Ukrlegprom president and chair of the board, Tetyana Izovit, commented: “We have many textile and apparel companies in Ukraine with expertise and skilled workers. They are able and willing to work with the EU, but lack contacts, customers and supplies. The EUTI will help them.”

Director general at Euratex, Dirk Vantyghem, added: “Supporting the textile industry is our way to help the people of Ukraine. We encourage our European members to connect via EUTI and develop sustainable partnerships.”
