Champions’ League match ball bears message of peace
Sports brand adidas has unveiled the official match ball for the 2022 UEFA Champions’ League final. The match takes place in Paris on May 28 between Liverpool and Real Madrid.
One feature of the ball is that it will carry a message appealing for an end to the war in Ukraine. It will have the words for ‘peace’ Ukrainian and Russia (which share the same word) and in English inscribed on the ball.
Adidas said the ball will not be available for the public to buy, but will be auctioned after the final with the proceeds going to the United Nations’ Refugee Agency (UNHCR) to help it protect people forced to flee their homes because of conflict and persecution.
