Specialist tennis brand Babolat has revealed that the total number of players using its racquets at the 2022 French Open is 49.

This second grand slam of the tennis season involved 20 women players and 49 men using racquets made by the France-based brand.

It said 45% of these players were using racquets from its Aero range, with competitors including Felix Auger Aliassime, Carlos Alcaraz (pictured) and Leylah Fernandez opting for the Pure Aero, which Babolat presents as being specially designed for “players who use spin as the ultimate weapon to dominate their opponents”.

A further 41% of the brand’s representatives at the Paris event use racquets from its Pure Drive collection. These include Rafael Nadal, who has won the tournament 14 times. Babolat has said these racquets are particularly suitable for “offensive players for explosive power”.

The final group of 7% of Babolat players at Roland Garros use the Pure Strike range. These athletes aim in particular for high levels of control and precision, the company has said. Cameron Norrie is one of the Pure Strike users.
