Nationally significant Chinese fibre innovation pilot readies for start

Suzhou-based Jiangsu New Vision Advanced Functional Fibre Innovation Centre was jointly established in July 2018 by Shanghai's Donghua University alongside Jiangsu Guowang Gaoke Fibre, which today remains the largest shareholder in the facility.

Local media have described the national-level centre as the first of its kind to be led by a private enterprise in China. Key milestones thus far in its history include the development and industrial-scale application of antimony-free polyester fibre, according to its website.

This month, though, the facility will officially commence production at a newly constructed pilot plant, specifically designed to move its research and development forward by providing a dedicated local space for testing early-stage innovations in functional and “high-end” fibres.

Reports from within the country suggested that protective and flame-retardant fibres are among those expected to be put into pilot production initially.
