Nuremberg-based spinner of wool and wool-blend worsted yarns Südwolle, has worked with fashion designer Qiao Qiao to develop a new, high-tech garment.

The result is a unisex poncho in merino wool, with yarns treated with plasma technology rather than chemicals to modify the fibre surface to avoid shrinkage during washing.

This new proprietary technology, which Südwolle has called Naturetexx, has the potential to replace the industry’s current standard ways of achieving non-shrink properties.

The company’s extra-fine flat-knitting yarn Genziana is the one Südwolle used for this project.
