IP protection technology provider pens deal with Lenzing

Wood-based specialty fibre producer Lenzing Group has announced a new partnership with Red Points, a provider of technology that can detect and remove intellectual property (IP) infringement. Lenzing said this would strengthen its “brand-protection efforts globally”.

It said there continued to be widespread demand from industry partners to use branded fibres, including Tencel, in their garments and that it was becoming increasingly important to protect the company’s trademarks.

“The purpose is not only to avoid infringement and counterfeiting issues, but also to protect our supply chain and brand partners,” said vice-president of marketing and branding at Lenzing, Harold Weghorst. He added that use of the technology would provide partners and consumers along the value chain with confidence in the authenticity of the fibres in finished products.
