Cambodia pushes for increased clothing exports to Canada

12/10/2022

The Cambodian Chamber of Commerce has opened a representative office in Toronto as the Asian country strives to grow its exports of apparel to Canada.

In 2021, Canada imported clothing worth just over US $1 billion, an almost 11% share of all Canada’s garment imports.

China had by far the largest share of the market, with Bangladesh in second with 13.4% and Vietnam in third place with 12.5%.

The authorities in Cambodia have said that, as new clothing factories open and existing facilities increase their production capacities, they believe their country could overtake Vietnam and Bangladesh as an exporter of apparel to Canada.
