Speed is the key for new adidas tennis shoe
Sports brand adidas has launched a new tennis shoe called Cybersonic. It said the product is “designed for speed” in the contect of the game of tennis becoming faster and more demanding than ever.
Professional tennis players and other athletes worked with research teams at the University of Freiberg to test prototypes of the shoe.
The shoe can help players keep their balance, change direction quickly and “inject energy when accelerating” adidas said.
Technological details include ‘Energyrods’ in the heel to provide lightweight propulsion. Energyrods are proprietary technology, consisting of carbon-infused rods that mimic the metatarsal bones of the foot, adidas has said. This is the first time it has used this technology in a tennis shoe.
The shoe also has dual-density midsole called Lightstrike and a rubber compound sole.
