Italy’s under-18 youth team will for the first time beat the main squad to wearing the Italian marble-inspired home strip for its debut outing during a friendly match against Spain, due to take place on home soil at the national coaching centre in Florence on January 18.
The new home shirts depart from earlier designs with an exclusive marble-effect pattern said to combine traditional artisanship with innovative techniques. The word Italia has been inscribed onto each jersey’s back collar with lettering, also used for the player names and numbers, that the adidas team has “completely customised” to evoke Roman-era engravings.
All jerseys in the collection are made from 100% recycled polyester and the away kit uses yarns containing 50% upcycled ocean plastic, in partnership with long-time adidas collaborator Parely for the Oceans. They also feature the brand’s own Heat.Rdy cooling and moisture-wicking fabric technology for added playing comfort.
