The former chief executive of sports group Nike, Mark Parker, is the new chairman of the board of entertainment group The Walt Disney Company. He has been a Disney director for seven years and the board has now elected him as its new chairman.

Mr Parker joined Nike as a shoe designer in 1979 and became chief executive in 2006 and held the role until the start of 2020, when he handed over to John Donahoe. 

He is still Nike’s executive chairman.
