Thermoforming technology enhances wool garment

Südwolle Group has presented a new collaboration project with the Woolmark Company, Milan-based innovation hub D-house, and yarn producer Expotex.
Products to have emerged from the project so far include a garment that the partners have called the Thermoform Sweater. This sweater combines the warmth and comfort of wool with the strength and durability of Expotex’s Grilon polyamide yarn in an 87%-13% mix. A 100% merino wool version is also available.
Thermoforming technology used in certain parts of the knit creates specific zones of protection from abrasion, while an intarsia design and embossed detail add “a touch of style”, making the garment “the perfect blend of style, functionality, and innovation”, according to the partners.
The partners presented the project and the Thermoform Sweater at Pitti Immagine Filati in Florence from January 25-27.
