Colombia proves fertile ground for Italian textile machinery

Italian textile machinery manufacturers travelled in good numbers to Bogotá in January for the Colombiatex 2023 exhibition.

Export promotion agency ICE worked with Italy’s embassy in the Colombian capital and with industry body ACIMIT to take 19 machinery manufacturers to the event, setting them up in a national Italian pavilion.

ACIMIT has said that its member companies achieved €12 million worth of exports to Colombia in 2021. Full-year figures for 2022 are not yet available, but the industry organisation has calculated that exports to the South American country in the first six months of last year were 67% up on the same period the year before.
