A reset year for shoes, NPD Group says
This year will be “a holding year” for footwear sales, according to market research firm NPD Group.
In a new forecast report for footwear, the company's footwear and accessories analyst, Beth Goldstein, said: “After three years of ups and downs, we can expect sales and price trends to level out as consumers settle into their now-familiar lifestyles and make strategic choices about must-haves versus nice-to-haves as they continue to grapple with macroeconomic pressures.”
The report said shoe sales will start to increase in volume in 2024 as pressure from price increases eases.
