Sprinter will help Toray to develop new athletic materials

Fibres and textiles group Toray Industries has completed a four-year agreement with Japanese sprinter Abdul Hakim Sani Brown. Under this arrangement, he will receive support from Toray and appear in its advertisements while helping the group develop materials. Toray will also support his interest in contributing to inclusiveness in sport and society at large and in collaborating in the company’s sustainability endeavours.

Commenting on the new arrangement, president of Toray, Akihiro Nikkaku, said: “We are delighted to form this partnership with Abdul Hakim, which reflects a shared desire to pursue international excellence. He is doing his utmost to become the world’s top sprinter, an effort that has greatly impressed us.”

Abdul Hakim Sani Brown turned professional in 2019. He was a finalist in the 100 metres at the 2022 World Athletic Championships in Oregon. His final position, seventh, was the highest any Japanese athlete has achieved in more than 90 years, Toray said.
