Trade mission to Pakistan for Brazilian cotton
A cotton industry delegation from Brazil travelled to Pakistan from October 16-18 on a formal trade mission.
Cotton growers and exporters were represented, as was the Brazilian national exports promotion agency Apex Brasil.
Growers’ association Abrapa explained that Pakistan is the fourth largest importer of Brazilian cotton, buying 188,000 tonnes in the 2022-2023 season. It said that in the last ten years, Pakistan’s imports of Brazilian cotton have increased by 220%.
Abrapa president, Alexandre Schenkel, said after the trip: “Pakistan is becoming an ever-more important market for us, principally because companies there are investing in innovation to enhance their ability to offer a high-quality product.”
