Traceability technology provider Haelixa has begun working with cashmere yarn, fabric and garment developer Artwell to authenticate its raw materials.

Hong Kong-based Artwell sources sources cashmere from herders in Inner Mongolia, where people have been raising cashmere goats for centuries.

Haelixa’s traceability solution marks the cashmere fibres with DNA markers that allow finished garment to be traced to specific farms. All brands working with Artwell will be able to use the data from this to inform consumers about the upstream history of their collections.
