New owner to help cashmere-maker plug market ‘gaps’

Holding company Everlert has bought Italian cashmere producer Zanieri after spotting opportunities for growth geographically as well as in new categories.

Umbria-based Zanieri controls the full production cycle, from yarn selection and treatment through dye, finishing and final garment assembly, specialising in men’s knitwear in the premium segment.

Its management said there is an underserved opportunity between traditional luxury brands and mass-market fashion, where price is justified by quality rather than brand markup.

In addition to its core cashmere operations, Zanieri has developed a proprietary tailoring and customisation platform that enables bespoke garment production for international clients.

Roberto Carmine Cosentino, CEO of Zanieri, said: "Zanieri was built on mastery of materials, production excellence and respect for craftsmanship. Becoming part of a US public company gives us the ability to invest further in innovation, expand internationally and bring our approach to premium apparel to a much broader market, while remaining true to our heritage. Our strong European foundation and proven operating model provide the platform for disciplined expansion into the United States and beyond."

More than 70% of Zanieri’s revenues are generated from its white label manufacturing for other brands, but the aim is to make most revenues from its own brand. Growth strategies include opening a store in New York, as well as launching a consumer-focused ecommerce site.

It also aims to expand into the yachting, golf and equestrian markets, as well as into womenswear.
