Innovation in lightweight performance
Interlining specialist Chargeurs PCC is featuring a new version of its H2 three-layer laminates at Milano Unica this week. The innovative waterproof, windproof and breathable material, which weighs a mere 45 grammes per sq. m., is available in new fibre blends, such as Tencel or cashmere. The main yarn can be either polyester or polyamide. Chargeurs PCC’s interlinings are made on special warp knitting machines and have a unique construction that makes it possible to insert a different fibre in the weft while maintaining an open structure and a measure of elasticity. They are produced at the company’s historical Lainière de Picardie factory in Péronne, France, which it says has been modernized.

Company CEO and chairman Gianluca Tanzi believes the performance characteristics and extreme lightness of the interlining material has the potential to do more in performance clothing as a standalone fabric. “We see potential in cycling, running and hiking, this is the fabric of the future, and it is unique as Chargeurs is the only company to have the machines to make it,” he told Sportstextiles. The company has created a prototype cycling top with fully bonded seams to show how the material can be used as a main fabric.

Chargeurs PCC also specialises in seam sealing tapes, and supplies some of the largest sports brands. These are available in many different versions and can also be adorned with patterns or logos for customised designs. Another move that signals the interlining specialist is evolving from invisible to visible applications for its products and know-how.
