Coffee grounds and mulberry silk add power for Textrends

The winners of ISPO Textrends competition for spring-summer 2027 have been announced.

China’s Heilongjiang Eppen New Materials won in the baselayer category for a circular-knit made from 76% bio-based polyamide derived from renewable plant resources, and 24% spandex, reducing fossil-based material consumption by around half. It is made with a low-temperature dyeing technology and the construction delivers lightweight performance at 100 gsm.

Taiwan’s Singtex won in the second layer category for a cooling fabric that combines coffee grounds with nylon yarn, offering odour control, quick dry and UV protection properties. Made with high-gauge single jersey crinkle fabric, it offers four-way stretch and moisture-wicking performance.

Bosideng Down Wear won in the outer layer category for an 83% recycled polyamide, 12% recycled spandex and 4% organic mulberry silk textile that provides thermal regulation. The fabric offers PFAS-free water repellency and its weaving structure, ventilation and silk’s innate softness complement the durability of the recycled polyamide, said judges.

EVent StormST’s durable three-layer PFAS-free laminate made with a plant-based stormST membrane, a recycled polyester 50D taffeta face fabric, a recycled polyester jersey backer and a water repellent won in the laminates and coatings category.

NOTAPE’s novel zip, made by precision injection moulding rather than with a tape, means polymers are fused directly onto garment fabrics, creating integrated teeth without the need for stitching or colour matching.

The awards will be presented at ISPO Munich Textrends exhibition.
