Recycled and insulation fabrics in new Pontetorto collection
Specialist fabric manufacturer Pontetorto is to present a new collection of materials for sports apparel at Performance Days in Munich (October 29-30) and at the Functional Fabric Fair in Portland (November 12-13).
For the new collection, Pontetorto has put the emphasis on circular economy principles. It has developed a process to turn production waste into new fibres. During its fabric finishing processes, it will recover waste materials, sort them by colour, clean them of impurities, and convert them into recycled fibres.
Another theme in this new collection is insulation. Its Tecnowear line combines thermal protection with lightweight performance, Pontetorto said.
This introduces fabrics designed to replace down, developed using new weaving techniques to combine technical fibres with noble fibres such as cashmere and fine wools of 16 microns.
