Performance Days closes on positive note
The functional fabric community convened in Munich this week in great numbers giving the Performance Days show a markedly upbeat mood. While official numbers have yet to be released, pre-registrations were up 25% compared to the show in October 2024, as Marco Weichert told Sportstextiles before the event opened. Exhibitor count for this edition was up 10% with 520 companies making the trip to Munich. Though companies are tightening their travel budgets, the turnout was unexpectedly high and the mood in the aisles and on the booths unanimously positive.

The introduction of genuinely innovative products no doubt contributed to the upbeat mood. Polartec introduced AirCore, a new high-performance laminate whose air permeability is precisely tuned to offer continuous airflow even in intense activities. PrimaLoft rolled out a series of innovative performance materials, including Ultra Peak a down alternative and its warmest insulation ever, and ReRun, its first products made from recycled textiles, using two distinct technologies, mechanical and chemical recycling.

The presence of innovators in many fields gives the event added power as a source of future-forward solutions for performance and lifestyle clothing. Special mentions could be made to many. Ravel, a company based in Seattle, presented its recycling method that can accept blended textiles. Yulex has now expanded its range of natural rubber based materials to include yarns. Xefco’s waterless dyeing and finishing Ausora machine, using atmospheric plasma, was another stand out solution for a greener industry. In the performance category, LifeLabs introduced innovative cooling and warming technologies that call on advanced materials. Long-time exhibitor in the start-up section, Swiss company OceanSafe has now scaled its offering of cradle-to-cradle certified naNea yarns enabling it to achieve competitive market prices, as Matthias Fuchs told Sportstextiles

“While others are rethinking their formats, we’re moving full speed ahead,” noted Marco Weichert, Performance Days founder and CEO. “The industry is clearly responding to quality, relevance and credibility. Our concept works because it connects innovation with responsibility – and that’s exactly what the market needs right now.” This clear vision is all the more reassuring the week that ISPO announced its move to Amsterdam in 2026 under new joint ownership between Messe Munchen and UK company Raccoon Media.
