Roica targets sport and athleisure applications
Asahi Kasei’s elastane fibre Roica will be making its first official appearance at Performance Days, which opens tomorrow in Munich. The yarn’s presence in functional fabrics is however far from new. Italian knitters Sitip and Cifra, along with Penn Solutions and Inplet Pletiva (Slovenia) are some of the Japanese group’s long-standing European partners that are also exhibiting at Performance Days.

Roica comes in various forms, notably a 100% recycled elastane yarn (Roica EF) and one that degrades in certain conditions (Roica V550).

This version will also be featured on the booth of Craftevo, where uniforms made for the staff of the Osaka World Expo will be on display. Commissioned by Japanese trading company V&A, they were made from a blend of Craftevo ReTE, a compostable polyester (under specific conditions), with Roica V550.
