Italian mills stretch the possibilities with Roica

Asahi Kasai has unveiled the latest fabrics made with its Roica fibre in partnership with Italian mills and which are on show at Milano Unica this week.

The Japanese group describes the Roica as an “improved elastane” based on its “polymer science”. Roica Colour Perfect are dyeable dimensional stretch yarns; the Roica Resistance family can withstand the effects of chlorine, salt water, chemicals and heat; Roica T550 is a degradable elastane with Cradle to Cradle-Certified Material Health Gold; and Roica EF contains pre-consumer recycled material.

At the show, Italian textiles maker Brugnoli will unveil Explosive Cotton Plus, a fabric crafted from American Pima cotton but delivering muscle support and elasticity, and Explosive Micro Modal, blended with Tencel’s Modal. These fabrics feature Roica Colour Perfect, V550 or EF.

Making its debut as a Roica partner at Milano Unica, circular knit specialist Eusebio will present its beachwear collection for spring-summer 27 featuring smooth stretch nylon jerseys, bases linings and jacquard jerseys with coloured lurex. All fabrics are Standard 100 by Oeko-Tex-certified and manufactured using sustainable energy.

Iluna Group makes stretch laces for lingerie, beachwear and fashion, this season showing intricate geometric designs with luminous metallic accents, bold florals and leaf motifs. The collection includes Roica EF, GRS-certified lurex mesh fabrics and materials made with recycled polyamides such as Fulgar's Q-Nova and Radici's Renycle.

Innova Fabrics’ Residual Free line features blends of Sensil Biocare (Nilit’s nylon designed to degrade) and Roica V550.

Inter Jersey Milano’s Sensual Tech collection includes stretch polyamide and polyester fabrics and the Roica Resistance family. For technical beachwear and resort wear, the Luminous Wave includes micro-structured surfaces to elevate brightness and depth.

Maglificio Maggia’s collection features blends of Modal, Roica V550 and cashmere for a premium feel, suitable for light-weight garments. The structured Milano rib fabric offers rich texture and shape memory, designed for jackets and overshirts, and delivers warmth and breathability.

Milano Unica will take place at Fiera Milano from January 20 to 22.

Sportstextiles will cover stories from the show over the coming days
