Traceability project adds value, Sitip says
Fabric manufacturer Sitip has said the traceability project it announced recently with Radici Group will bring benefits to the whole supply chain.
At Milano Unica in July, the company told sportstextiles that the partners were convinced there would be added value across the whole value chain from the project.
For the project, Radici placed a tracer in nylon yarn, which Sitip then used to make warp-knit fabric that went into a finished garment, a blue dress, that was on show at Milano Unica.
Sitip said that, in the face of extensive greenwashing, customers would see the benefit from having guarantees that the yarn, the fabric and the finished garment are, in this case, all Made in Italy products that have been manufactured responsibly.
“Everything we do has certification from bluesign and from ZDHC,” the company explained. “We have had this as an integral part of our set-up for more than a decade now. We have also had our own water-treatment and water-recycling plant on site for years and are making extensive use of green energy.”
It said the dress was an example of “a real, sustainable supply chain”, and that bringing traceability to the market was an important way of adding value. “Traceability is going to be key,” it concluded.
