Longstanding reporting puts us in good stead, says Radici
Chemicals and textiles group Radici invested €4.2 million in 'environmental initiatives' in 2023, and now 60% of its electricity comes from renewable resources.
The group outlined the achievements in its 20th sustainability report, in which it reported that between 2011 and 2023, direct CO2 emissions dropped by 83% and it recycled 79% of water. Some plants reuse water up to 60 times before returning it to the environment.
Angelo Radici, president of RadiciGroup, said publishing reports for so long helped the group map its impact and plan reduction targets. “Most of our production waste becomes a resource for the creation of new products, such as [recycled nylon] Rencyle. RadiciGroup's commitment to the recovery of pre- and post-consumer waste has been an established practice for over 40 years and is now also encouraged by growing market demands and European policies.”
He added that the group is now preparing for the mandatory reporting required by the European Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive.
The group employs more than 3,000, and had sales of €1 billion in 2023. It produces chemical intermediates, polyamide polymers, nylon yarn, polyester yarn, recovered and bio-based yarn and nonwovens.
