United platform for fibre authenticity
Software services provider TextileGenesis has worked with traceability technology specialist Haelixa to add a new feature to its digital traceability solution.
As a result, suppliers will now be able to upload traceability certification, based on DNA-based technology from Haelixa, to the TextileGenesis Fiber-to-Retail module.
The companies said this will bridge “a gap between physical and digital traceability”. They said this will create “a unified platform to verify material authenticity”.?
They said the textile industry faces “growing risks of fibre adulteration” because of blending and false claims. They added that this is particularly true of higher-value materials such as organic cotton, recycled fibres and cashmere.
Haelixa’s technology embeds forensic DNA markers directly into fibres. TextileGenesis’ blockchain-inspired digital chain of custody enables what the partners have called “a multi-layered traceability system” that provides scientific evidence of authenticity claims.
