Textile sector caught up in new Taiwan-China tariff row
Textile fibres, including polypropylene, are included in a list of 12 products at the centre of a tariff dispute between Taiwan and China.
China’s customs tariff commission announced at the end of 2023 that it was withdrawing reduced tariff arrangements for the 12 products.
Representatives of Taiwan’s the ministry of economic affairs have already been in touch with textile manufacturers to discuss the possibility of government assistance in the face of the tariff change.
