Sports product manufacturer and retailer Decathlon has completed the acquisition of German group Bergfreunde, an online retailer specialising in mountain sports and premium outdoor products.

Bergfreunde has a range of around 40,000 products at the moment and achieved sales revenues of €242 million in 2022.

On announcing the deal, Decathlon said this acquisition would bring it into contact with a new group of customers, people shopping in the premium-outdoor segment, and help it expand in a number of important European markets.
