Winter sports brands draw up pact for addressing climate change

Twenty-one ski, snowboard, binding, and boot brands have joined forces to sign a new pact to fight climate change. The initiative, labelled the Climate Pact, is organised by a group called the Winter Sports Sustainability Network and the Federation of the European Sporting Goods Industry (FESI).

The winter sports industry is seriously affected by climate change, the signatories have said, but also contributes to global environmental challenges through the products that brands make and sell and the travel and activities that enthusiasts undertake.

By signing the Climate Pact, the 21 companies and organisations have committed to addressing climate change and achieving a net-zero carbon emissions future.

“Our industry cannot tackle the global climate challenge on its own but it  has a part to play,” said FESI secretary general, Jérôme Pero. He said the industry had decided “not to sit on the sidelines and wait for others to act and watch the snow literally melt away”.
